Le mans gulf promo

In 1971, Gulf Oil service stations in the USA gave these posters away to motorists in order to promote their association with the new Le Mans movie, starring Steve McQueen. As a treasured image on thousands of schoolboys' bedroom walls, it achieved iconic status, but comparatively few survived unscathed. The film focuses on the duel between the German Stahler in the Ferrari 512LM and the American Delaney in the Gulf Team Porsche 917 that features on the poster. The poster is original as given away in 1971.
