In 1968 art house film specialists, Janus Films, decided to show the full uncut version of King Kong for the first time. Some of the original scenes depicting the love of a huge gorilla for a scantily clad heroine were considered too risque back in 1933 and were cut to get the film into mainstream cinemas. Janus films commissioned artist Lee J. Reedy of counter-culture outfit Dot Graphics for this suitably suggestive poster. People often forget that King Kong was originally destined for the grind-house sexploitation circuit (like it's predecessor, Ingagi) before focusing on the bigger audiences. Linen backed with retouching to lower titles.
