An extraordinary, funny and moving film about a young girl growing up in a staid seasid town after the second world war. Emily Lloyd steals the show but it is less well known that director, David Leland, based her character upon Cynthia Payne, the notorious madam, about whom he also made a biopic (Personal Services). From the first release, folded with pinholes and minor water stains only but presenting well.
