Rebel Without a Cause
Stunning large format poster by Luigi Martinati from the golden age of Italian movie art in the twenty years after WW2. Not only beautiful but very, very rare, these posters were printed in two sections and pasted into position when used so had a near 100% destruction rate by the end of the film run - there's probably no more than a dozen left in the world today. This is a particularly good linen backed example with strong unfaded colour, no damage and minimal retouching needed to the fold lines. One small area of paper replacement on the right hand border, otherwise superb. N.B. although this design was created for the 1956 first release in Italy, this particular poster was printed for the 1960 re-release using the original artwork. The only difference is the tiny addition of a date next to the printer name in the bottom right hand corner. With first printings fetching well over £4,000, this is an excellent way to obtain this period poster at a substantial discount. N.B. Because of the size and weight of this poster, we will need to arrange special shipping as it's too large for our standard delivery.
